Upper Room Church

Dr. Franklin Battle was led by the Spirit of the Lord to plant a church in Georgia and from those instructions in 1996, the Upper Room Church was born. The first congregation of the Upper Room Church gathered in the living room of Dr. Battle’s sister Melinda Gay. Dr. Battle would travel from Florida to Georgia on many occasions to establish the foundation of the church.

Once established Bishop Barry Butler, Evangelist Dwight Battle and Minister Melinda Gay began to lead the people. Soon after the congregation began meeting, a larger facility was needed so a building was leased in Riverdale, Georgia. In 1999 under the direction of the Lord, Dr. Battle moved his family back to Georgia and begin to pastor the Upper Room Church congregation full-time.

The Lord began to move through the man of God with such power that the small congregation grew to over 300 people. The church realized the need for a larger facility and then leased a larger property in Riverdale. The Upper Room Church has served over thousands in the Riverdale community as well as those in the surrounding counties and states providing counseling and deliverance. The church has also provided food, clothing and furniture for those in need.
